Quality

Plant, testing and oversight.

How we look after the concrete we supply. Handy for engineers, builders and anyone writing a spec.

How the plant is run

Engineering oversight

Our concrete production is overseen by our plant engineer and plant manager. They prepare our mix designs, give technical direction to the plant, and review batching records, quality documentation and concrete test results on an ongoing basis.

Building Code

The Queenstown Lakes District Council Building Consent Authority (QLDC) has accepted and confirmed that the concrete standard being supplied by Meila Limited is in compliance with the New Zealand Building Code requirements.

Testing

Concrete samples are taken regularly for testing, and results are reviewed alongside our batching and production records. Air, slump and crushing tests are done in our plant testing room. Note on the quote if cylinders or slump are required, and who is paying for the work.

Dockets

Each load is docketed. Keep the docket. If anything about the mix needs checking later, the docket and the agreed spec are what we work from.

What we can supply

  • Foundations and slabs: up to 25 MPa, to the project and engineering requirements.
  • Hardscaping and other non-structural work: any strength. The mix is assessed against the required strength and spec.
  • Structural or engineered work above 25 MPa: goes through our plant engineer. A sample is taken from every truck, and sampling costs are charged to the customer.

Not sure which applies? Send the engineer’s specification when you request a quote and we will review it with our plant engineer and plant manager. Grades and typical uses are on Mixes. Common questions, including what QLDC has confirmed, are in the FAQ.
